The English for Medical Professionals course is a 90-hour course for healthcare professionals - doctors, nurses, pharmacists and also for medical students who are approaching or already in the clinical phase of their studies – who are looking to work in an English-speaking environment.
This course will develop the language and interpersonal skills necessary for healthcare professionals to communicate effectively and build a rapport with patients and colleagues alike. Course participants will be immersed in an English-speaking world where they will learn to carry out their duties in English more effectively and with greater confidence.
Our Cambridge University course books refer to numerous medical communication experts and include authentic clinical scenarios to demonstrate the impact of positive communication on the relationship between healthcare professionals and patients.
This course will train you how to sensitively handle a range of day-to-day situations in a workplace environment, and will also prepare you for different patient types, such as children or the elderly, where enhanced levels of sensitivity are required.
It is important to emphasise that while this course does make use of medical communication models and participants will be required to make use of their medical expertise, the aim of this course is not to teach medicine or medical practise. Equally, the teacher is primarily a facilitator and will act as an expert in English and communication skills rather than an expert in medicine.
